After having been involved with many pageants over the years, I have grown disillusioned with the way pageants are run in Singapore. The focus has always been on the outer beauty of the contestants, while who they are, their passions, their ideals, and their character has always been thoroughly ignored by the format. It's through harboring hopes of a competition that gives women who have character and determination -- but may not match conventional height or beauty standards -- a chance to showcase what they can do, and discover a hidden talent that they might have, that DreamGirl SG was born.
First and foremost, DreamGirl SG is not a pageant. DG is a competition where petite ladies (below 1.65m) can truly be judged according to how much effort they want to put in to achieve their dreams and for who they truly are as a person. Instead of asking ladies to just do catwalks or parade around in fashion outfits, DreamGirl SG will be sending our contestants to learn grueling yet exciting activities like Brazillian Ju Jitsu, Catch Wrestling, Surfing, Pilates, Burlesque Dancing, and many, many more! Through the contestant’s performance in each of these activities, points will be awarded depending on effort invested, attitude, and quality of final performance in the challenge.
Based on the point ranking of each contestant, elimination will begin in July until there are only 10 left in August. The finals at the end of August will see contestants face off each other in a sparring contest, execute a fight choreographed dance segment and perform a unique talent segment of their own.
The aim is for the winner to walk away with $5000 in cash and prizes from sponsors, and we are hopeful to raise enough money for the other top few contestants to walk away with cash as well.
All contestants would also have a chance to become Brand Ambassadors for the competition’s sponsors under the BA program, while the exposure from the competition (every activity would be recorded as an episode on the official DreamGirl SG Youtube channel) could open many doors to opportunities, opportunities for you to fulfil your dreams.
The requirements for the competition: --
- 1.65m and below
- Physically fit with no prior issues with asthma or heart related problems
- Be able to devote all the weekends in June, July and August to the competition.
- Able to speak English fluently and express emotions and thoughts in a candid, forthright manner.
- Between the ages of 18-35
We hope that this competition would one day grow to become the premier talent competition not just in Singapore, but also in the South East Asia region, with plans already afoot to have a edition in Malaysia and Philippines as early as 2019. DG would be the competition that truly unearths hidden gems that would have the caliber to be role models for other petite powerhouses out there, while driving home the message that petite females are not to be discriminated against -- they are strong, and they want a equal chance to achieve their dreams as well!
But in order to do this, we would need your help to help make this competition a reality. Please contribute generously to this ultimate beacon of female empowerment. With every contribution, the competition increases in reach and stature.
With every contribution, the revolution against traditional pageants becomes stronger.
Help us achieve our dreams.
