Campaign Story
Petunia is one of my 5 rescued cats, we found her 3 years ago at the seaside, when she was just a tiny kitten and ended up keeping her altough we wanted to just foster her and put her up for adoption. She quickly befriended our dogs and conquered our hearts 💗
Even though she was always a strong, healthy cat, In the past weeks she got sick, has a fever that won't go down with all the antibiotics and meds we've tried and her overall condition îs getting worse. She is sleeping most of the time, she lost weight and she is getting weaker every day :(
We did bloodwork, fiv/felv tests that came negative, so now she is suspected to have dry FIP(feline infectious peritonitis)a disease that is my biggest nightmare, considered fatal until recently, when an experimental antiviral drug was succesful in treating cats în a clinical study.
One of my other cats, Neo has been diagnosed with the wet form and he is on this promicing drug for over 40 days now with huge improvements, he is now a healthy cat, but the treatment has to be followed for 84 days în total, so he must continue the daily painful shots of Gs and now Petunia must go though this as well...but we don't wanna loose her and we are determined to do everything în our powers to see her healthy and chubby again.
The treatment costs a lot, around 1500-3000 euros depending on the cat's weight and stage of disease(dry/wet, neuro, ocular) but it's the only drug that can cure this terrible fip.
So far. I managed to get most of the vials needed for Neo, but will need more to treat Petunia also, and i really don't have the funds for her now :( we spent a lot of money on treatments, vets, tests, etc.
I normally would not crowdfund for my cats, but i am really struggling at the moment, we have 30 foster cats at our cat cafe(that is a foster/adoption centre for rescued or abandoned cats) and 5 dogs in foster(all abandoned at our Cafe). Most of the money we make at the Cafe goes to pay the rent for the place and for taking care of all the animals that are living there(vet visits, food, kitty litter, dewormers, etc).
I've been rescuing and fostering cats for the past 10 years, i lost 7 cats to FIP in these years, when there was no hope for a cure and all that could be done was paliative care :(
FIP is not a death sentence anymore, but It's so unfair that we need a huge amount of money in order to save a cat.
I know everybody is struggling and it's a lot of money to ask for, but i am hoping for a little help from fellow cat lovers or friends.
Thank you for your support 💗
