I have been invited to perform in NYC in May 2019. But the invitation comes with a price tag and I need your help!
WHY I NEED YOUR SUPPORT
My play "A Cottage of One's Own" has been selected to partecipate to the seventh annual In Scena! Italian Theater Festival NY, a festival of Italian theater taking place in all five boroughs of NYC, April 29-May 13, 2019.
I will perform May 1st at the Bernie Wohl Center and May 3rd at the Casa Italiana Zerilli-Marimò, NYU. My show will be presented in English. Admission to the festival will be free.
It is a very prestigious opportunity, but I will need your support to make it happen. There are some -rather symbolic- rewards listed, for those of you who will support me. My eternal gratitude is probably what counts and is worth more.
Spread the voice and help me out! Every donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated!
I'm an Italian born actress and playwright. Graduated from the "Teatro Stabile di Genova" Drama School in 1993, I alternate brilliant and dramatic roles, switching from classical to contemporary playwrights.
I acted in major Italian theaters with directors such as Giorgio Albertazzi, Alfredo Arias, Antonio Calenda, Katie Mitchell, Barbara Nativi, Cristina Pezzoli, Sergio Fantoni and Marco Sciaccaluga. Among her most recent works, besides my activity with my production company Magnitudo Nove: "Antigone" by Sofocle, directed by Cristina Pezzoli, at the Greek theater in Syracuse; "Dirty Dancing: the classic story on stage"; "Roma ore 11" (Olympic Theater Award as the best show of innovation); "La commedia di Candido" by Stefano Massini, with Ottavia Piccolo, directed by Sergio Fantoni.
In the US, where I lived for many years, I received excellent reviews as Madame in "Le Serve" by Genet, directed by Maria Vargo, and the nomination for Best Actress at the MethodFest in LA with the short Tremors by Evelin Longo. I was the leading female voice for "E! Enertainment Television Italia", presenting events in Italian and English.
I also work on tv: Il Cacciatore, L'Allieva 2, Storia di Laura, Carabinieri 7, Colpi di sole, the Bold and the Beautiful; and in cinema: L'ordine delle cose, Giulia doesn't date at night, The International, Heaven. Recently I co-starred in the Israeli film: My little family, directed by Dina Persltein; as Lena Franchi I was for two years in the cast of A Place In The Sun, Italy's longest-running soap opera.
In 2013 I founded with fellow actor Roberto Baldassari the theatrical company Teatro Dieghesis, writing the Company's plays. Amongst them:: "Quando ci regalarono una scuola", about the expulsion of Jewish students and teachers from public schools following the racial laws in Italy, "Odissea –Il racconto", "Orlando Furioso (e le onorate mani degli scrittori)", "Il racconto di Romolo", "La Grande Guerra –le trincee della letteratura"
A PERSONAL NOTE
it is never easy to ask for help, especially if it is financial help. But I believe that my friends in Italy and around the world would be offended if they knew they had not been asked. I love my job, I love my life, my family supports and encourages me. This show is my first all-round work, as an actress, playwright and producer; going to NY, after two years of touring in Italy, is the realization of a dream. Being a woman artist in Italy has never been easy. Lately it is even less so. Help me to demonstrate that, with honesty and passion, things can be achieved!
