Our dear Mom was diagnosed with and is now battling Stage 3 lymphoma.
No one really prepares you for the news that your loved one has cancer.
A few months ago, our Mom was complaining about a lump on her shoulder. We thought it was a normal lump. Cancer was not event at the back of our minds. We were after all talking about our Mom, Maribel.
Though she is already 70 years old, she has the energy and the stamina of someone ten years younger. An active member of her church group, my Mom spends, or used to spend, most of her time helping out at our parish, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Quezon City.
Prior to that, she was a simple mother who ran her own small business to send us, her three children, to university. She was our family's sole breadwinner. It was a small business just enough to pay for the school bills and house utilities. The business didn't really provide enough to prepare for expenses that come along with a disease such as cancer.
So, when the doctors confirmed that it is indeed lymphoma and the doctors started using words such as chemotherapy, radiation, CT-Scan, and so on, us three brothers were completely caught by surprise.
My brothers and I have been pitching in to pay for the expenses. However, we all have pretty much a usual job that pays the usual salary. Having said this, the financial burden, not to mention the emotional burden of the entire situation, is beginning to weigh us all down.
Us three brothers will continue to work. However, we know that we cannot do it by ourselves. We need financial support and compassion from as many people as people.
This is why we decided to set up this Go Fund Me account.
There is no reason why you should donate to our fundraising drive. You don't know us. You have other things to spend your money on. You have your own bills to think of.
However, we believe that there is still goodness in people.
We also believe that no matter how small the contribution is, it all adds up. Every peso, dollar, yen, Euro counts.
Please support us in our battle against lymphoma. Support us support our Mom in this battle!
We hope you can be our source of hope and strength is this time of difficulty. Thank you for taking the time to read this
