Carpe Diem is a school for children with either mental or physical challenges that exclude them from mainstream learning. We are situated in the Western Cape of South Africa. Many of our children come from disadvantaged backgrounds and therefore families are unable to afford school, bus or hostel fees. The lack of which puts a drain on the services and resources we provide.
Besides schooling - we have a staff nurse, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, a Physiotherapist and a Speech Therapist. Our learners from surrounding areas outside George stay in the hostel - and are provided with 3 meals and 2 snacks per day; and are bused in and out weekly.
Children from George are bused in and out daily and those from impoverished homes, are put on our feeding scheme (they are given 2 meals and 1 snack - as well as a food parcel for over school holidays).
Our school also provides medical provisions, including nappies to those with medical issues requiring them.
