I have been trying to work out for a while what would be the best way to start this and share my story. There are so many things I could share about the last few years and the mistakes I have made but this is a story of opportunity and positivity. I will start from the moment I landed back in South Africa after living in Dubai for 8 months. I had nothing but the clothes packed in my bag and no prospect of to look forward to. I spent a few months trying to start up my own business but it seemed that it was not meant to be.

In February this year an opportunity fell into my lap and I was told about this amazing institution which provides a free education over the period of two year. In this two years you complete two four month internships which provide you with much needed work experience and then at the end of the two years you are guaranteed a position in one of the top development firms in the country.

Along with the other 39000+- applicants I completed the online application process and much to my surprise I was invited to complete a one month bootcamp which would test my skills, learning ability and resilience. So on the 17th April 2017, at 28 years old, I packed up my bags, moved in to the college and began the most difficult test life could throw at me. The first thing I became aware of was the fact that I was much older than all the other applicants. I was determined though that I would not let my age be a disadvantage, all it meant was that I would have to put in twice as much work and hours as everyone else to make sure that I was able to keep up.

I spent the next month working my butt off and to my surprise I was accepted to the college. I have now completed my first week at the college and have realized that the next two years are going to be the most exciting and difficult time of my life. This brings me to the part of my story where I need your help and support. The college provides financial support in the way of a stipend. This stipend will allow me to pay rent at the college residence as well as lights and water. The amount allocated will allow for the basic necessities but will not allow for any extras. This is why I am asking for the help and support of my friends. Whether it be R10 or R50, anything that you can offer will help me support myself through the next two years and help me to finally complete some form of education and secure my dream job!
