My name is Marina Margelou, I am a visual artist and I come from Greece.
I am a graduate of the Athens School of Fine Arts in Greece, majoring in Sculpture. My artwork focuses on the relationship and interaction between the individual and society and it is mainly expressed through sculptural installations, which are large-scale three-dimensional structures in space. The nature of my artistic expression, that is, the use of large scale, geometry and three dimensions, naturally led me to seek further knowledge on the field of Architecture, with the ultimate goal of merging these two fields. As art and architecture both express as well as influence the world we live in, by merging these two fields my aim is to try to create more humanizing, scale-giving and psychologically benevolent spaces, that could carry the values of both disciplines.
After my application, in March 2020, I was accepted into the three-year “Master of Architecture” program of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, where I was awarded a 96,000 USD (32,000 USD/ year) scholarship.
According to Pratt Institute policy, for the first year of my studies there I have to prove that I have the amount of money called "Estimated I-20 Expenses" and it amounts to 83,074 USD which in my case, due to the scholarship I have got, amounts to 51,074 USD.
However, since I am over 30 years old (b. 19/ 12/ 1986), I do not have the right to apply for scholarships in Greek foundations and my financial resources cannot support my studies. Therefore, I had to postpone my studies for a year hoping that by the end of April 2021 I will be able to secure the money needed.
Ιn order to be able to continue my studies, I ask for your support, which will be a deciding factor in my professional and personal progress.
Thank you for your time and support.
