Mohammed Shadab Alam, 31 years old is a resident of Kolkata in West Bengal. He is suffering from Cancer APML (Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia) which has caused due to Pancytopenia that he has developed. Pancytopenia occurs when a person has a decrease in all three blood cell types. This happens when something is wrong with the bone marrow, where blood cells are formed. Pancytopenia has many possible causes: Diseases such as cancer, lupus, or bone marrow disorders. Now he has cancer and he is under the treatment at Tata Medical Center Kolkata. The hospital has provided the quotation cost for about 6 lakhs of rupees ($8,000) for the complete treatment by chemotherapy.

He lives with mother in Kolkata and his father passed away a few years ago. He is the only source of income for the family. He was working as a Sales representative in a store and getting a monthly salary of Rs 4000 per month. Now he is sick and cannot go to work and his income has stopped. Currently, his friends and neighbors are providing groceries on a daily basis. He does not have funds for the treatment and he cannot imagine even to arrange 6 Lakh of rupees for chemotherapy treatment. He approached the Rahbar Foundation and submitted an application requesting financial support for his cancer treatment.

The family is very poor and eligible to receive Zakat and Sadaqah. Alhamdulillah, we are in the blessed month of Ramadan which is the month of giving Zakat and Sadaqah in charity.
