Support Marivi Beat Breast Cancer

Update posted by Wendy Johansen On May 23, 2017

Hi Friends!

Sorry I didn't get this update out here sooner but I'm SO happy to report that we had an appointment with the Oncologist last Friday and received the good news that the final pathology results were received and it was negative that she was estrogen resistant. No oral therapy (medication) is necessary and her follow-up will be to meet with an oncologist every six months going forward.

She returned to work today to finish the last week of school with the rest of the teachers and students. I asked her for a picture that I could post with this update and you can see she is sporting a new haircut (bangs) as a fun new look...maganda, diba?

We can not thank you all enough for your incredible love and support during Marivi's diagnosis, surgery and recovery. Each one of you has made an impact and our prayer is that you will be blessed with what you need as you have blessed us!

With love and grateful hearts,
Wendy & Marivi

Hello Friends!

Friday we had the post-op visit with the surgeon and received the updated pathology results. The cancer tumor was 3.5cm and the surgeon confirmed that it was the right choice to have the mastectomy since that is the protocol when tumors are larger than 3 cm. They also found that there was a micro invasion (1 mm) that had become invasive (starting to spread) so we are so grateful that we found the cancer early! Instead of having only the DCIS as the diagnosis, the surgeon explained these results are equivalent to stage 2 breast cancer. However, no chemotherapy or radiation is necessary and she is CANCER FREE!!

After meeting with the surgeon there had been enough healing to allow the removal of her drain. Check out the photo below which shows the medical assistant with the drain and tubing. The amount of the tubing outside of her was about equal to what she had inside. We were very happy to have it removed so now her full recovery is underway!!

She's starting to get out more and is even planning to return to work on May 22nd for the last week of school.

We'll give another update after we have final pathology results on the tumor's hormone receptors status. She may need to see an oncologist and start anti-estrogen medication to help prevent cancer in the future.

Thanks to all of you again for your support and prayers! Your generous outpouring of love has been amazing!

Much love and gratitude,

Wendy

Hi everyone!

Posting another quick update to let you all know Marivi is progressing well in her recovery. She's had the expected ups and downs but is certainly headed in the right direction. She's off the narcotic pain pills and only taking Tylenol (over-the-counter pain relief), as needed. No sign of infection in her incision or the drain that was inserted to remove the excess fluid. The amount of drainage is decreasing at a good rate so we are very hopeful the drain will be removed when we have our follow-up appointment with the surgeon on Friday. Still awaiting final pathology report which was expected 3-5 days after surgery...there's a good chance we'll receive those results at that appointment.

We appreciate all your prayers to continue supporting quick healing. I'll update again at the end of the week.

Love,

Wendy

Hi Friends!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the generous donations and your loving and supportive words of encouragement! We're four days away from the surgery which will be May 4th and Marivi is pressing forward full of faith and courage!

Some of you have asked about giving donations directly instead of using this site. Please email me at [email protected] and I can provide you my address or a bank account number. Marivi is active on Facebook and can be reached via Messenger or at [email protected]. This is actually encouraged since this site will take a percentage if you donate here.

I'm also providing Marivi's contact information so you can continue to send well-wishes leading up to Thursday and to reach her during her recovery. Your continued love will definitely brighten her spirits and help her heal. :)

I'll provide an update later this week....

Much love,

Wendy

Hello Good afternoon blessed one I am bruce copperfield from The Samaritan Purse International Relief I was here to monitor some campaigns our organization have funded and see how they have progressed and i am so glad they are doing well in the name of God.i came across your profile and i find your story really touching and genuine and i just cant leave without trying to help. Our organization Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you do not mind i am very moved by your story and i would love to help your cause.I have a daughter Ashley and i lost her mum to a car accident about 5 years ago.My daughter has had to battle cancer but she is better now thanks to The Samaritan purse international relif. international relief that took care of her for me Glory be to God.That was when i joined the Samaritan purse international relief and since then i have lived in christ and i have been a very happy and blessed man. Every year we reach out to families across the world and help those in need of dire help.as i said earlier i am a father and a disciple of our lord Jesus Christ whats why your story really got to me and i feel i should sow a seed no matter how little.A sum of $155,000 is given to each family that enter the Heal Our Patriot campaign and the 2017 list of help just closed and is up for review but i can help your campaign in the name of God If you reply promptly.I would love for you to enter the campaign so you can have a chance to get the money. You need it and i am willing to help you through the process.I am not giving a guarantee that you would get the money but it is worth a trial and it only costs little time and effort. i hope you see this as a very big opportunity and don’t let it pass you by as i am willing to help you.Do not let this information out as the campaign is for a selected few. I would love the personal owner of campaign or close family member to email me as all the details have to be confirmed to be real as i would be accountable if it is a scam page and The money doesnt go to a person in need. Contact me only on my work mail [email protected] And you can also check me up on Facebook at bruce copperfield but do not contact me for work there.
