Support Mama Nhel in Beating the Big C (Cervical Cancer)

Mama Nhel has been having a painful battle with cervical cancer for about two years now. She was initially diagnosed with cervical cancer stage IIB, and as of January 2019 it has advanced to IIIB. Since her diagnosis, she has undergone treatments such as; chemotherapy (IV), radiotherapy, haemodialysis, and blood transfusions as her haemoglobin would regularly drop too.

Mama Nhel knew something was wrong when she had intermittent bleeding between periods, excessively heavy periods and bleeding after peeing for months. In 2017, she was rushed to the hospital and underwent a pap smear; the doctors mentioned that there were symptoms that should not be happening. She was arranged for an appointment with a specialist gynaecologist and took a biopsy. Results showed that she has a malignant tumour, we as a family were in denial. We then consulted for a second opinion, and a third for confirmation. Reality strikes, and she was diagnosed with cervical cancer stage IIB.

Presently, Mama Nhel is confined at the San Juan De Dios Hospital in Pasay City, Philippines where she is having her series of treatments mentioned above. She has acquired several complications in her vital organs (heart, lungs, kidney, liver) and had her minor operations needed for her dialysis too.

She currently still needs to undergo continuous haemodialysis for her heart, lungs, kidney, liver and blood complications, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery on top of all the medical maintenance such as high dosages of morphine (oral and iv) and numerous other medications she needs to take consecutively.

Mama Nhel needs your generosity and support in order for her to win this battle against cervical cancer (IIIB). With this, our family reaches out to you to include Mama Nhel in your prayers. The funds raised will go towards her overwhelming medical and hospitalization costs, medical supplies, treatments, maintenance, and general support for her.

Mama Nhel would usually say, “Kakayanin ko ‘to. Hindi ako susuko. Laban natin ‘to.” (“I’ll overcome this. I won’t give in. This is our battle.”)
