Personal message

Hi, my name is Luke Matthews a 15-year-old budding soccer player, residing in Parow Cape Town. In the 2019 season, I was captain of my soccer team, with a league and cup double win. We ended the season undefeated and a very strong consistent run in the knockout competition ending up as eventual winners.

I believe that being respectful, disciplined and humble on and off the field is life skills that were instilled by my parents and coaches. These skills I apply in everyday life and in sport. I was recently selected to participate in a soccer tournament in Portugal.

It is a very prestigious youth soccer tournament attracting world-class professional academy teams and is an ideal platform for young talent to showcase their abilities. While in Portugal we will be traveling to Madeira and Lisbon.

On conclusion of the tournament, we will embark on a 5-day training camp at Barcelona FC youth academy in Spain. Being an athlete, opportunities like these are few and far between. It is every athlete's dream to compete against some of the world's best and it would be a dream come true for me.

The dates for traveling abroad is from 20 June 2020 to 07 July 2020.
