Support Lolo’s ABA treatment for Autism

Do you have a 5 years old child who is talking? Does your child call you mummy or daddy? Did you have to beg your child days and days at the age of 4 just to say one word?!

Lolo stopped talking at 2.5 years in 2013 and started to demonstrate some behavioural difficulties. She was diagnosed eventually with Autism. Now, Lolo has approached 5 in a mainstream school with one to one support being assigned from the government. She is very excited about going to school and she is trying very hard to learn and join her friends in their normal learning. We are very blessed because Lolo can call us now daddy and mummy and she also can say some words and hardly short sentences. But when I pick her up from school, my heart tears apart when I see other children telling their parents what they have done while she says nothing. This is just one examples of the daily frustrations that we experience because of Lolo being not communicating.

Our heart got broken when we were told by doctors and specialist that Autism is a life-long incurable state. Lolo now is demonstrating very challenging behaviours. She is ignoring her little brother and doesn’t want to play with him at all. She tries to hurt him sometimes by pushing or pinching. She cries all the time for the silliest reasons and especially if her brother gets his hands on something before she does.

However, without hope, faith and effort; lot of disease would be not treated until now. We believe that our lovely daughter can recover or at least have a chance to be almost a normal person in this life.

Therefore, we have to try everything that is proved to be good and helpful for autistic children.

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based, intensive education therapy for children with an Autism. It is scientifically proven to be effective and is the preferred method of treatment for autism.

ABA helps children develop their social, academic, self-help and behavioural skills needed to interact with others and to cope with the challenges of everyday life.

ABA therapy is very expensive. It includes one to one sessions for long period, not weeks or months but years!! It could cost up to £44,000 a year to have a 25 hours of sessions weekly. However, it worth and the more provided the more great outcomes are achieved.

Eventually, it is not an investment to make Lolo genius or extraordinary child, but a treatment to make her coping with life and be a normal child as possible.
