Campaign Story
we are a coalition of LGBTIQ+ refugees in block 6 Kakuma Kenya, for those who don't know Kenya, Kenya is known as a country of asylum where victims of violence, torture and discrimination may go too safely and wait for the resettlement to the third promised country. we became trapped here and face torture and abuse that is often even worse than in our countries where we ran from ,it is very illegal to be LGBTIQ in Kenya here if caught its death, imprisonment. the government and police are very corrupt and the agencies who are supposed to be here to help us with shelters , safety and essentials aren't doing anything due their corruption. we are facing problems of scarcity of food, poor water supply, poor medical services and there is a lot of homophobia from the straight refugees, we actually try hard to keep a low profile but it still fails because we cannot live in a faking life or actors life.
we the LGBTIQ+ PEOPLE it is rarely possible for us to find work especially here in the camp or for the children to attend school its too dangerous to try to integrate with the straight population in the community.
we call for support and assistance for all LGBTIQ in Kakuma who are unable to work and support themselves with things like basic needs, medication, food services, shelters, educational supplies and sanitary pads for women and girl children.
we need the united nations and UNHCR to advocate for our equal rights in order to find us a safer place and better life than that we facing now #QueerBlacklives Matter.
