Hello my name is Hassan Mohamed Ahmed and I am a 30-year-old native of the infamous settlement of Kibera in Nairobi, Kenya.
In 2010 I completed my Bachelors in Mass Communications at the Islamic University of Uganda. Since then I have been a community worker at the Nubian Rights Forum in the village of Makina in Kibera. I have been focusing on helping people access their citizenship rights. I also volunteer at the community radio station Pamoja FM.
I am passionate about documentary film-making and photography. I believe that through sharing the stories of my community and the severe challenges people face in Kibera, I can help transform Kibera. Furthermore I want to share my knowledge and skills with people who cannot access them on their own.
I need assistance with the tuition fees (over $4000.00) for a 2-year diploma in Film and Television production from the Jamhuri Film Academy. With the completion of the program I will be able to fulfil my career goals and become a more valuable member of my society.
Samples of my photography work can be viewed on my blog: hassanphoto.tumblr.com.
