I made this campaign to help my classmate to get the amount of money she needed. She was once came to me and borrow money because she needed to rush her baby to the clinic for a check up and buy medicine because her baby caught a cold(and now the baby contracted a measles), classmates, contributed extra money that we had although it may be a small amount. She was able to check her baby up in a rush despite of our on-going class. She then later told us that she ran out of milk on her breasts and wasn't able to buy a formulated milk in the grocery/drugstore due to, again lack of milk. I asked what is the matter and if her parents can instead shoulder to buy her baby's milk. She then said the money that her mama and papa earned is just enough to sustain their daily living as she and her siblings are still studying in high school and in college. Although she has a brother who is already married but she's afraid to ask his help since his brother also had mouths to feed. And so, she resolved to ask money to her baby's father but his family, particularly the baby's grandfather, told her that she (Janna) is using her baby as an excuse to loot money from them (ginawang negosyo ang bata).

Who is Janna Abayon?

At school, she is an excellent student having a total GWA of 1.5. We, her classmates, didn't expect that she is THAT good in school considering she is very reserved and quiet if you really didn't know her. She's really excel in Mathematics (we took u Communication Arts course and we still have mathematics subject) and at times she did great in other subjects (some of our professors did gave us lower grades) but still she still passed her subjects. Although at times she missed classes due to watching or feeding her baby because no one babysitting her child or she ran out of formulated milk.

She once told me she wanted to stop going to school to find a low paying job to sustain her baby's needs but the burning desire to finish school and giving her child a brighter future is visible in her eyes. She also dreamed to help her family to have a better life, just a repayment of welcoming her child and giving her chance to go to school. I was with her when I told her to became a scholar so she will receive a grant monthly. Unfortunately, the school admin told us that the scholarship that CHED (Commission of Higher Education) is prioritizing Information Technology and Engineering courses and our course would be the least prioritized. Also as DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development) gave her a Single Parent ID as a perk of granting her a scholarship but as we approached the admin about that, she was told that the school doesn't recognize it.

With Janna's permission to post her story here, she would be knocking on your hearts to help her and her baby get through this kind of hardship she has to go through. With your help, she can be able to buy her baby some essentials, (i.e. diapers, vitamins, milk, and baby clothes, etc.) and she would be able to check herself up in a clinic (she was only visited a clinic once during her pregnancy), and for an extra money, she planned on starting up a small business so that it help her, her baby, and her studies and wouldn't be depending on her parents. It's for her and her baby's dreams coming true. Thank you, everyone for hearing her story.
