Hello, welcome to our official fundraising page!
My name is Douglas Smith founder Ibanda Young Stars Soccer Academy(IYSSA) a non profit Organization I founded to support, empower and transform the life of a rural child through the power of soccer in the undeserved areas of Ibanda Uganda.
Over the past one year, under IYSSA we have supported over two hundred(200) children in the remote areas of Ibanda, Uganda many of whom are orphans, by enrolling them in our soccer programme. The initiative, which requires no entry fee, aims to support children by empowering them, teaching them, and providing basic necessities in order to improve their quality of life. Alongside just playing sport, we have partnered with local schools meaning that 65% of the children who were previously not in school now attend, we also make sure that the materials necessary such as shoes are provided, and the soccer clinics have helped to improve awareness of illness such as HIV/AIDS and we have succeeded in decreasing drug abuse in these areas.
This year got me nominated in Uganda's most Prestigious "Young Achievers Awards" category of Sports for transforming hundreds of lives of children through soccer (http://youngachieversawards.ug/outstanding-sports-personality/)
It was a great achievement being recognized for the hard work and tireless efforts to strengthen communities through the beautiful game of soccer.

On the 28th.December.2018, We shall be officially launching Ibanda Young Stars Soccer Academy. The grand launch will bring together over 600 kids from various soccer academies across Uganda in our first ever Charity "Soccer Impact Tournament" 1st Edition. Around 22 teams are expected to participate in this tournament. The purpose of this tournament is support and bring joy to the rural child, create awareness among locals about blood donation and raise awareness amongst youths about HIV/AIDS and Drug abuse.
We know we can't do all this alone, the reason we seek your support to make this event the best of its kind. These donations will go fully in support of our event and our soccer project programs.

It is my pleasure and I am humbled to be helping and supporting these children through the sport of soccer. And like Nelson Mandela said, "Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand. Sport can create hope where once there was only despair. It is more powerful than governments in breaking down racial barriers. It laughs in the face of all types of discrimination”. We hope for a successful launch.
