Support For The Victims Of The Earthquake In Central Turkey

My name is Iris Kruuse and I am collecting donations for the victims of the earthquakes in Turkey. I'm a MA student of Contemporary Middle-Eastern Studies at Tartu University, the events in Turkey are close to my heart as I've studied in Marmara University in İstanbul, have lived there for many years and many of my friends and loved ones are also in Turkey. I decided to start a campaign for raising money specifically, because then the donations can immediately be used for aid and equipment that are the most needed at the moment and depending on the specific needs of people or a province. I will transfer half of the total sum of the donations directly to AHBAP organization, which is one of the most active volunteer organizations on the ground and the other half to Türk Kızılay (Turkish Red Crescent) and the money from the donations will be used for rapid response, the treatment of the wounded, sheltering the survivors and for vital humanitarian assistance given the cold weather conditions.
On the 6th of February 2023, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in the early hours of the morning and another 7.6 magnitude earthquake in the afternoon struck Kahramanmaraş and Gaziantep provinces in Turkey. The strong earthquakes also affected and caused widespread destruction to the provinces of Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Osmaniye, Kilis and Diyarbakır. As of this evening (7.02) over 4000 people have died, over 26 000 are wounded, thousands are still stuck under the collapsed buildings and over 5000 buildings have been damaged. It is Turkey's biggest natural disaster of this century, there is an immediate need for extensive humanitarian aid and many have lost their homes. Minu nimi on Iris Kruuse ning olen Tartu Ülikooli Tänapaeva Lähis-Ida Uuringute MA tudeng. Türgis juhtunu on minu jaoks südamelähedane, kuna olen õppinud Marmara Ülikoolis Istanbulis, elanud seal pikalt ning ka paljud minu sõbrad ja lähedased elavad Türgis. Pool kogu annetuste summast kannan üle otse 50% AHBAP organisatsioonile, mis on üks kõige aktiivsemaid vabatahtlike organisatsioone kriisikoldes ning ülejäänud pool otse Türk Kızılayle (Türgi Punanerist), et aidata seeläbi päästemeeskondi, maavärina ohvreid ja kannatanuid ning pakkuda esmatähtsat humanitaar abi, seal hulgas toitu, riideid, telke.
2023. aasta 6. veebruari varahommikul tabasid Türgi Kahramanmaraş ja Gaziantepi provintsi kaks tugevat maavärinat, 7.8 magnituudine maavärin kell neli hommikul ning 7.7 magnituudine maavärin pärastlõunal. Täna õhtuse (7.02) andmete kohaselt on hukkunud üle 4000 inimese, üle 26 000 on haavatud, tuhanded on veel endiselt rusude all lõksus ning hävinenud on üle 5000 maja. Maavärin tekitas suuri kahjustusi veel mitmetes teistes provintsides nagu Malatya, Şanlıurfa, Osmaniye, Kilis, Diyarbakır. Tegu on Türgi selle sajandi suurima looduskatastroofiga, vajatakse tohutult humanitaarabi ning paljud on jäänud oma kodudest ilma. Iga väikene panus on suureks abiks. Aitäh!
