My name is Hyuk-Gun Kim. I used to be a vocalist of a then-famous rock band “The Cross” of South Korea. Two years ago, a car ran a red light and ran over me. Doctors first thought I was going to die but after several operations, I lived. But the accident left me paralyzed under the neck. The sudden fall from a rock star to a paralyzed patient made me extremely depressed. I had to take took anti-depressant pills regularly until 6 months ago. I quit anti-depressant and decided come back out to the world.. to sing a song of hope (like, Nick Vujicic). I cannot control my lung due to paralysis, so I was not able to sing loudly. But a team of scientists provided me with an automatic device that pushes my stomach regularly, so now I can sing.  What I desperately need right now is: a special wheelchair that can climb stairs. South Korea is a terrible place for the handicapped to live in. Almost everywhere there are stairs without elevators and stair climber, which absolutely prohibit me from moving from places to places on the wheelchair that I currently have.  But with the special wheelchair, which costs about $5,000, I can move more freely and climb up on stairs, which will allow me to work as a vocal tutor. I’m living on an extremely tight budget, and teaching vocal lessons is the only way that I can think of now for me to earn a living.  I’m asking for your support to pursue my dream. I am no longer a singer with outstanding skills and a four-octave range. Still, I want to spread hope and touch the hearts of the suffering with my singing.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MtOPMOodXEI&feature=youtu.be
