Campaign Story
The devastating impact of the Corona Virus has hit many communities at home and abroad. The economic situation in many countries has left thousands unemployed and the situation in Zimbabwe is no less desperate. Our friends in Victoria Falls, including Justine, Dean, Ian, Picket and the rest of the staff are in urgent need of your financial support.
We are calling on as many people as possible to donate to a fund that will help our friends. Your monetary contribution will directly support Justine, Dean, Ian, Picket and the rest of the staff who, within a mere matter of weeks, will be unable to afford to pay to keep their medical insurance, pay for medical bills, pay for food, clothing, utilities as well as school fees for their children when schools do reopen.
Our friends are currently living off food storages at the nearby hotel and the community garden. Although they have been paid their salary through the end of March they will then be placed on a very small stipend or partial wages. Many are supporting not only themselves but their extended families as well and live paycheck to paycheck.
Your contribution will go towards the entire team who are directly affected by this tragic situation including program staff, anti-poaching unit team members, and game reserve scouts.
Our goal is to raise at least $15,000, which will ensure all 34 staff members receive their full salary for the month of April. As the impact of this global pandemic continues, it is our hope that we can exceed our goal in order to support our friends through the coming months.
Sometimes it takes a village, and so we’re calling on all members of our global village to support now. If you are unable to financially support at this time, we completely understand. Our hearts are with you as well as with our friends in Zimbabwe. We are in this together.
