Thiis page was created to help the Markel families as they cope with their daughter's diagnosis of Stage 3 Wilm's Tumor, especially with expenses not paid by their Medical Insurance. The money raised here will help with the added expenses due to travel for Chemotherapy and Radiation treatment, trips to the hospital, and additional items that are not covered by insurance. At this time the family should concentrate on taking care of their precious Audrey and not worrying about added expenses.

Audrey Markel was diagnosed in February 2013 at 16 months old with Wilms Tumor, a form of kidney cancer. After a biopsy, chemotherapy was started, but after 6 weeks the tumor had grown. Audrey's surgery for removal of the tumor was scheduled on April 25, 2013, however the tumor was attached to her vena cava, and surgeons didn't want to risk removing it and causing further harm. Surgery was then scheduled for May 13, 2013, when the 6 pound tumor was successfully removed.

Eric and Kendra are originally from Western New York. Eric is stationing at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. Upon his return after a 6 month deployment, Audrey's tumor was discovered, and their battle against Wilm's Tumor began.

You cannot imagine the emotions, one day you are so thankful that your husband has returned home after a six month absence, and 2 weeks later you find out the most precious thing in your life has cancer.

All the grandparents traveled from Niagara Falls, N.Y. to the Tampa area to be with Audrey and offer support.

The next two weeks were heartbreaking watching poor Audrey try to cope with this huge tumor, while the team of Dr.'s determined the next course of action. On May 13, 2013 surgery was performed and the 6 pound tumor was removed. The road ahead will be a long one but with a strong family and help from family and friends, Audrey will be Cancer free.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could spread the word to others who may be able to help this family. We are all truly greatful for all of your thoughts, prayers and any help you can give.
