Support for Al Pesso’s Medical Expenses & Recovery

Update posted by Tana Pesso On May 23, 2016

Dear friends,

It is with profound sadness that I inform you on behalf of my sisters that our beloved father, Al Pesso, died suddenly on May 19th after a long illness and seven months hospitalization. There will be a joint memorial service for both our mother and father in Cambridge, MA in late summer at a time and date to be determined. Anyone wishing to share thoughts, memories, or media about our father is welcome to do so on his tribute page which can be found here: http://www.forevermissed.com/albert-pesso/#about

Extending a warm hug to all who loved him and will miss him,

Tana Pesso

(Al's eldest daughter)

Dear friends, colleagues, and clients,

I am writing today to announce my retirement as a therapist and teacher. As many of you know, for the past five months I have been battling a series of health challenges including hemothorax, many rounds of pneumonia, congestive heart failure, endocarditis, arrhythmia, blood infections, anemia, and multiple myeloma which has compromised my immune system. I have come to realize it is impossible to continue my training schedule under these health conditions and that for the foreseeable future my time would best be spent writing the books and articles that have been on a back burner for years.

I thank you all for your well wishes during this difficult time and look forward to the next rich chapter of my life bringing PBSP theory and practice to the world through my writing rather than in person as a therapist and a teacher.

With the wonderfully talented, dedicated, and well trained cadre of PBSP therapists, supervisors, and trainers that exist I know that the practice and teaching of PBSP will be secure in their capable hands and carried on to the highest standards for the benefit of the world in the future.

I wish you all happiness, health, well-being, satisfaction, and meaning in your lives.

With love as always,

Al

(Note from Tana Pesso: Since late October except for 10 days at home Al has been in hospitals and at Spaulding Rehab. Anyone wishing to contribute to his medical expenses and recovery fund may do so via his Go Get Funding site. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!)

My dear friends and colleagues,

Thank you so very much for all your kind messages, wishes, and prayers and for your wonderful generosity over the past 4 months while I was in the hospital and rehabilitation center recovering from hemothorax, several bouts of pneumonia, arrhythmia, congestive heart failure, endocarditis, and a blood infection. My doctor informed me that 99 out of 100 people my age would have died in similar medical circumstances, so I am very happy to tell you that I was able to finally leave Spaulding Rehab and return to my apartment!

While I recover my physical strength from this long ordeal I plan to take something of a sabbatical at my daughter Tasmin's home in Marin County, California and do some long postponed writing on the development of PBSP. With sufficient time my doctors expect me to be able to resume running workshops, giving speeches, and offering private therapy sessions. So, the prognosis is very sunny and optimistic.

Because I will likely have had at least 8 months in total in hospital and recovery where I've been unable to work, this will continue to be a challenging time financially for at least a few more months.

In closing, let me say again how moved I've been and grateful I am for your heart warming kindness and generous support over the past four months. I wish you all the very best.

with love and best wishes,

Al

I will always remember Diane's bright spirit, amazing creativity and warm, welcoming nature from my summers at Strolling Woods. Our NJ PBSP training group was fortunate enough to have her come down and give us a training - each of us did such beautifully expressive work - healing, artistic, uniquely individual to each of us led by Diane. My heartfelt sympathy to Al who has given me so very much over the years. His teaching and guidance has been invaluable in my career as a PBSP therapist and as a person. I look forward to his writing and new ventures and wish him the best always - much love, light, good memories, health and happiness. Much love, Debbi Antinori
