Support Edna’s fight against Stage IV Ovarian Cancer

Hi everyone!

My family and I are organizing this for our beloved MAMA who is continuously battling with stage 4 Ovarian Cancer.

First of all, I would like to thank you for taking the time in reading our story. My mother, Edna G. Hapa, is an elementary school teacher in Gabao, Irosin, Sorsogon, Philippines. She dedicated her life in teaching and helping kids in our community. She worked tirelessly even at nights after school. As any teachers do, even after school there's still a lot of things to do, preparing the lessons the next morning and teaching their students the best way they can.

Everything was okay but suddenly this happened. Last June 2019, after she felt a lot of pain in her lower abdomen and at the back and when all her laboratories came, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer. It was life changing and one of the most depressing moments in our life. We knew that from that day, our life, specially her life will never be the same again. Her condition is not just physically, mentally and emotionally draining, but also financially challenging.

After she was diagnosed, the doctor immediately recommended for her to have an operation to remove the tumors. But sad to say not all tumors was taken. Months after the operation, we decided to go here in manila for her chemo therapy.

Since September 2019 fast forward up to date, she already undergone 18 sessions of chemo therapy. But even then she still needs another 6 sessions of chemo and her doctor told us that there still a possibility for another 6 sessions after this and possibly more.

We need to raise more funds to support her therapy and other future medical expenses. Right now she's in chemo every 3 weeks for almost about Php 45,000 (almost $935), plus some other medicines and injections that she needs for her pain, protection for chemo, laboratories and if she have to undergo removal of fluids in her abdomen. We already sold our small house back in the province, avail several loans, also with the help of some of our family and friends and money from our own pockets just to afford her treatments and medications since the beginning up until now.

We are humbly asking for your kind help, any amount to help us with her treatment and medications will be very much appreciated.
