Tiwi Beach is a closed beach located a few kilometres from Ukunda town . It's accessible both from Ukunda Airstrip and Moi International Airport in Mombasa by plane. Along these beach there are several cottages , hotels and lodges that enjoy white sandy beaches on their sea fronts . It is in these beach that we find the only starfish conservancy in Kenya can you imagine !!! and maybe Africa. Due to the Tourism crisis in the area since 2012 the conservancy has suffered due to poor management and care , guides receiving less or no Tourists at all. At the moment the community organization maintaining the conservancy headed by Said has now called for an appeal of up to ksh 300,000.00 equivalent to Euro 3000 that will be used to construct a Tourist pick-up point pier infront of Hill park Hotel Beach visiting the conservancy , building 5 other new canoes and also expanding the conservancy due to high rate of increasing starfish population.
