Do you know this man?

You might remember him as Brian Opperman

UPDATE:

Brian passed away on 18 August 2023. He will be remembered as a great friend.

This fundraising has been stopped, and will be deleted in the next 7 days.

On 15 October 2022, Brian suffered a life-changing stroke which left him a shadow of the Brian we all remembered and loved.

I, Andy Coetzee, remember Brian as the friendly face of the barman at RJs (above Glorias Bakery). He always had a smile, and a great sense of humour and managed to have a way to make the workday seem not that bad. From there, he became a great friend. I am sure you have many similar stories to tell.

Brian also provided much entertainment to us all through his music as a DJ; be it parties or weddings, he always managed to keep the dance floor full.

Before leaving Amanzimtoti to work at Medupi Power Station in June 2014, with his new wife and family, he could be found providing friendship, laughter, and music at Thirsty Whale.

Following this sad event in his life, this has put a tremendous strain, both emotionally and financially, on his wife and children. He has been taken from his wife before they got to fully build a life together and he will not be able to tell his kids how proud he is of them again, something he always confided in me.

So, I have started this crowdfunding to ask you, those who knew him, to assist the family to make his life as comfortable as possible, and for us to give back to the man that played a part in our lives. Irrespective of how you parted ways with him, let’s help him and the family at this time. Please dig deep when remembering the great times and fun we had with him, as it is costing close to R10 000 (R7000 just for care and R3000 for medication and extras) each month, which, in these times, is extremely hard on his family. Proof can be provided, but due to his personal care requirements, I have not included it.

Brian, you are always in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers.
