Support Avalon Visions Metaphysical Books And Gifts

Avalon Visions is now the longest operational metaphysical shop in Santa Cruz County. We have survived the worst economy since the great depression of the 1930’s, the flooding of Capitola in 2011, and numerous other difficulties. Despite all the weirdness of these times, we managed to expand in 2014, adding a healing space to our little shop. It had to be done at that time, or it would likely have never happened.

For as many years as Avalon Visions has been in business, if we ever lacked specific products, we had several other local go-to shops to refer our wonderful customers to. When the disastrous economy struck in 2009, this began to change. In 2011, we lost Draggin Wood, by 2012; we lost Gateways Books and Gifts, then Inner Journey in Los Gatos. Last year we lost Capitola Book Café. This year, on October 15, Santa Cruz County says good bye to yet another long standing non-corporate metaphysical shop, Sacred Grove. In February of 2016, if a buyer is not found, we will also say good bye to Virgo Rising in Scotts Valley, as the owner has chosen to retire. Avalon Visions would like to be the place that provides those services and products that simply vanished with the closure of these other wonderful and unique local shops. Local artisans continue to lose their representation in small unique shops as they vanish to large corporate conglormorates such as Walmart who care little about anything other than profits.

Although we are still experiencing some dificuties due to the debt that our expansion caused, Avalon Visions is not in danger of closing. However, we cannot currently afford to bring in the variety of merchandise, including the many locally made products that we would like to bring back to our customers. We ask for your support so that products and services that are often requested can be brought into the shop and provided to all of our wonderful customers.

No amount is too small, and any amount is appreciated. We have set a goal for $8,000. This amount will allow us to settle any and all debt and begin to truly stock the shop with the wonderful products that we have always been known for, along with some of the products that were unique to the shops that are no longer part of our community.
