Support Agri Planet Africa

Agri Planet Africa (APA) recently changed its name from Agri Planet Uganda (initially Art Planet Academy, 2015), broadening its vision and reproducing its impact on Uganda into the whole African continent. APA is a Ugandan NGO that seeks to improve the lives of African farmers through permaculture education and training and the development of sustainable, self-sufficient permaculture systems. We are currently crowdfunding until our United States nonprofit paperwork goes through, and then we will have a standard donation page for supporters.

Our Mission

Empower communities of farmers, women, youth, academia, and other stakeholders through education and training in permaculture best practices, commodity production, entrepreneurship, and leadership. We aim to strengthen food security in Africa and promote renewable, sustainable, and climate-smart agricultural systems to protect the natural world, enhance livelihoods, and provide the next generation with the tools to succeed.

Read about where we currently work.

Permaculture has been identified to offer numerous advantages, such as better human health, increased resilience against environmental changes, and reduced input costs.

The estimated annual cost for each category of assistance to help hundreds of individuals in 2023 is outlined below:

Permaculture Education and Training: $4,500

Donations to Agri Planet Africa support programs that teach farmers modern permaculture techniques for sustainable farming, such as conservation tillage, water management, and organic practices. This helps African farmers become better stewards of the land while allowing them to produce more with less effort.

Permaculture Infrastructure: $6,250

Donations fund the construction of irrigation systems, greenhouses, storage facilities, and other infrastructure that can improve permaculture productivity. This ensures that African farmers have access to the tools they need to succeed in their agricultural endeavors.

Permaculture Research: $1,750

Donations support research into new crop varieties, pest management techniques, and other topics that could improve African permaculture practices. With your help, we can develop methods of increasing yields without diminishing soil health or environmental sustainability.

Permaculture Financing: $2,000

Donations provide loans or grants to farmers, allowing them to invest in equipment, seeds, and other necessary resources to succeed. These resources are essential for small-scale farmers to take advantage of the benefits provided by permaculture practices. Your donations provide them with a chance for a better life.

Permaculture Marketing: $3,500

Finally, donations help farmers connect with buyers and sell their products at a fair price, improving their income and livelihoods. By providing them access to profitable markets, we can ensure they receive fair compensation for quality products while establishing secure food production networks across Africa.

Action-Learning Program: Stretch Goals: $800

Agri Planet Africa is participating in an action-learning program on the systemic effects of mushroom production in Ugandan orphanages. The program aims to explore how enabling orphanages to generate their resources internally can influence behavioral changes in orphans and administrators. Evolutionary Funding Collaboratory (EFC) provided baseline costs for this initiative, and we are searching for additional funding to support the undertaking.

Two orphanages will gain access to sustainable financing, improved infrastructure, and the knowledge, resources, and materials needed to establish a mushroom production enterprise. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learnings (MEAL) Team will document the process, creating a mini-documentary, a report, and a 2-hour session to share their learnings with EFC members. This will encourage learning and collaboration between EFC members and provide insight into creating more sustainable and equitable relationships in local communities.

Your generous contributions in any area of need will greatly assist us in reaching our objectives of fostering healthy ecosystems and promoting sustainable agricultural practices throughout Africa!

By donating to Agri Planet Africa's initiatives, you can:

  • Improve farming techniques for higher crop yield.
  • Lower production costs through better tools and inputs.
  • Increase access to direct trade partnerships with buyers.
  • Boost local economies.
  • Offer access to new technologies such as drip irrigation.
  • Enhance education for youth - helping diminish rural poverty.

"Investing in agriculture is not only about cultivating crops; it's about cultivating hope, nurturing dreams, and growing sustainable futures for entire communities." - Cleofash Alinaitwe, Agri Planet Africa Director of Innovations and Extension
