A story about a dysfunctional father and son, one still coping from a loss, the other with a highly-stigmatized illness, in 'GULIS' (Lines), they are compelled to talk to one another to make ends meet and heal the wounds of their withering relationship.
I'm Kyle Jumayne Francisco, a regional filmmaker from Pampanga, Philippines. Together with me in this project as the producer is Carlo Enciso Catu. He is a fellow Kapampangan filmmaker whose films are critically and internationally acclaimed. We share the same advocacy in the fight against HIV and AIDS stigma and discrimination.
Our short film 'GULIS' is an official finalist in the CineSpectra Short Film Festival 2019, a Philippine film competition highlighting stories about HIV and AIDS. The short film will tell a story of a father-son relationship when one discovers his HIV status, and how HIV reconnects two broken lines in the family. The film aims to spread adequate information about HIV to the general audience, aimed to battle stigma and discrimination of Persons Living with HIV (PLHIVs).
The filmmakers believe so much in this project, as it is a story about a Filipino family more than anything else. To produce this film into its best version possible, we need additional funding. After its run in CineSpectra Film Festival, we see it traveling to places making our advocacy on HIV awareness louder as possible
Please feel free to talk to us for possible partnership and collaboration. No amount is small in this fight.
Your heart and benevolence in making the film's message heard by people would mean a lot not just to us filmmakers, but also to the people we fight for.
WHY ARE WE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT IT?
