Superior mesenteric artery syndrome
My name is Hollee. This year I was diagnosed with two rare conditions, Nutcracker syndrome and Superior mesenteric artery syndrome. On 31/7 I had surgery to fix these, unfortunately one of the syndromes was not addressed and now I am in need of a bowel bypass operation to address the Superior mesenteric artery syndrome.
Everyday it is as though my body is crushing me from inside. The pain is debilaiting and this syndrome has taken my life. At the age of 28, I am nearly housebound because even walking is of difficulty and pain. I long for the day of being able to eat and know I won't be in pain, to be able to enjoy food and drinks. I cannot remember the last time I ate a meal without feeling pain, or without the help of pain relief . At times of great pain Even water does not stay down. I long to work again and live my life.
I feel very upset and disappointed that I have to reach for help again, but after fighting for a diagnosis for over 2.5 years, be heard and believed - this surgery will save my life .
I want nothing more than to be able to sit and eat , knowing that I will not be in pain and be happy.
This is my opportunity to live my life, not only too exist which is how I am now
