My name is Rozaliya (Rozy). As far as I have read my name translates to "Day". Maybe that explains why I am so happy or maybe it's just my dopamine. I am from the Republic of Bulgaria. A country in Southeastern Europe with breathtaking nature and incredible history, with traditions alive to this day. There is no doubt that my love for Bulgaria is endless, however, it has become too small for me and my big goals.
Fall of 2018 I took part in a competition by the Bulgarian Reading Association. In January I was informed that I have a scheduled interview and an English exam. During my interview, I spoke with representatives of HMC, ASSIST and Davis’ Program. I was competing for a 100% scholarship to study for 1 or 2 years in the USA or in the UK.
In February I received an email informing me that I did not win a 100% scholarship, but I had the opportunity to compete for a Reduced Fee Scholarship. I lost faith. I thought that maybe it was a sign that I should give up. However, I decided to try, I had nothing to lose. I sent out letters to the schools that offered this scholarship...and nothing. Nobody contacted me.
Every day I waited, I felt my faith leaving me. Until one day, I received an E-mail. Four schools still had offers and I had the opportunity to compete. I was receiving mixed signals. I did not know if I should give up or if fate is testing me to see how long I can last. Here I am again, writing E-mails to people I do not know. Waiting began. It was like watching the same movie over and over again.
On the 25 of March 2019, I was contacted by Lomond School (Scotland). They wanted to interview me! A week passed, but nobody contacted me. I started thinking that they had forgotten about me or that somebody was pranking me. Well, I was wrong, thank GOD! I had an interview with the Principal and the Deputy Head. After the interview, I started crying because I thought that they did not like me. However, fifteen minutes later they sent me an E-mail offering me a place in Lomond School.
My family has to pay 8 000 pounds and this is why I am seeking your help. My mother does not work as she had to raise me and my brother. My dad is a truck driver. It is hard for my family to raise such a large amount of money. Thank you for reading my story.
