Study Abroad to Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Hi everyone my Name is Miguel Angel Cordero and I'm a sophomore student in the Borough of Manhattan Community College in New York City, where I'm majoring in Multimedia Programming and Design. After moving to New York from the Dominican Republic I was amazed by the city, its beauty and its huge cultural diversity. From that moment I decided that I want to travel all around the world to learn more about new cultures and and their people.I believe that the more we learn about how other people live we get to care more about the problems and situations that affects the world and also we get to appreciate more our own culture. This is why I decided that this course to Buenos Aires is the perfect opportunity to begin my journey around the world.
This is a summer course in which students will tour historical sites and museums to experience both the dominant and political narrative and more inclusive versions of Argentine history. We will also visit an informal settlement cooperative as well as the more newly gentrified neighborhoods. We will volunteer with low-income children in local elementary schools and we are going to receive lectures from local experts which correspond to the course materials. Also we may take a tango lesson during the time in Argentina.
