STUDY

My name is Raquel Gordillo; I'm from Medellin-Colombia. I came to the United States last year for the first time and I completely fell in love with the culture and country. The first reason that I came here was because my mother's dream was that I live and study in the US. My mother is from a very small town in Colombia. She works really hard to provide my education and give me the best that she can. She is a hair stylist and she used to have a beauty salon. A few months ago she had to close down because she doesn’t have enough money to pay the rent. The beauty salon was the only source of income for our family. Now my mother is working from home but the business sis not doing as well so she can’t pay for my education. I have been trying to find resources for my education but in Colombia is really hard, we don’t have the same opportunities that American have. I want to study in the US because is a country full of opportunities and I love it here so much! But the most important thing is that I would like to make my mother’s dream reality and make her so proud! I know if I study here I will have the opportunity to help my family and have a better life for all of us. I don't have a lot of family and my father doesn't support me (he thinks that I'm not his daughter) and that's the reason why he has never helped me in my entire life. My mother is a really good and strong person. She raised my sister and I by herself. I want to make her dreams come true and give her everything that she has done for me. I really want to study! That’s my dream too! it would be amazing if I can get the opportunity to study in the US.

When in Colombia I'm a volunteer with my church given food to the homeless every Wednesday and I support a foundation called Caminos De Fe Y Amistad, I really like to help people and spend time with people who doesn't have a lot of resources because that's make me happy and if can help other people why not do it ?



That's a little bit of my story and if you want to support me I will be the happiest person in the world and the most thankful person with the people who want to support me with my dream to study!
