Jipe Moyo Center orphanage is situated in the quaint Tanzanian town of Musoma, serving as a haven for more than 70 boys and girls. In 2022, we dedicated four months to living within the orphanage, forming profound bonds with the children. They are remarkably authentic and resilient, brimming with love to share with the world.

These children lack families, and many bear harrowing tales of abandonment and human trafficking. Some of the girls have even escaped their families to evade female genital mutilation and have faced other formidable challenges. Nevertheless, we firmly believe that with love, their painful pasts can be mended and transformed.

Our aspiration is to assist these children in constructing a secure future through love and education. Over the course of the year, we have collaborated with numerous volunteers, and come January, we will be reuniting with our children in Tanzania.

Our dream is for every child who has completed their basic education to have the opportunity to pursue further studies and gain access to technical training. For instance, a three-month basic computing course costs approximately 500 CAD. We are confident that, with your support, we can turn this dream into reality. Furthermore, we aim to offer English classes to all the children. While some of them are currently learning English, our resources fall short of covering classes for everyone.

After they finish their school education, these children currently face limited options. Only the girls receive training in sewing, a profession that, while common, is poorly remunerated. We aspire to broaden their horizons and alter their future prospects.

Thanks to the generous donations we've received, we've already achieved significant improvements, including procuring mattresses and sheets for the children's living quarters, constructing sanitary bathrooms and showers for the orphanage, providing Christmas gifts to each child, acquiring washing machines to replace manual washing, and implementing a biogas system for cooking to replace the use of firewood. These enhancements have substantially enhanced the quality of life for the children at the orphanage.

After the project, a documentary was made (currently in production, but the trailer can be found at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnVDScVu88U ).
