Student exchange in USA

Hi my name is Nina!

I am a 4^th year student of social pedagogy at the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation sciences in Zagreb. I have the opportunity to go on a short exchange to the USA at Indiana State University as a part of the Comparative criminology course, which I took and passed in 2022 here in Zagreb. Classes consist of lectures, seminars, practical classes and visit to numerous institutions that deal with crime and behavioral disorders in general.

Given that the study of social pedagogy is lacking in Europe, we do not have many opportunities to go to other countries and learn from others. Also, we lost a large number of hours of practical work and until recently we were not allowed to volunteer in certain institutions due to the consequences of Covid. This exchange is an ideal opportunity to expand my knowledge so that I can return to Croatia with more experience and ideas.

With all the current events and changes in the world, it is important to emphasize the importance of helping professions and social pedagogy. I believe that by investing in our knowledge and experience, we can achieve great changes.

Since the Department of Criminology in Indiana covers the field of criminology and work with people with behavioral problems well, I am encouraged to ask you for financial support in order to more easily cover the costs of the trip, since our faculty does not participate in the financing and considering all the price increases that have occurred in the last year.

I hereby invite you to allocate as much as you can and as much as is in your power to contribute to my journey, but also to the special experience and knowledge that I will gain and use in my future professional work as a social pedagogue!
