Who am I?
Hi! I'm a student at the University of Toronto, majoring in International Relations. Courses like economics, history, and spanish have been really challenging so far, but have opened my eyes to some important global issues that affect us all. One of my goals is to gain as much real world experience during my time at University, so that when I graduate I have a blend of pratical and theoretical knowledge - something that I believe will give me the tools to inspire positive change in the development and international relations fields.
This summer I will be working with Students for International Development (SID) as a Reseach Assistant. SID is an NGO, based out of Toronto, whose mission is to empower young people to mobilize against global poverty. I will be a member of a team of seven other students and alumni who will be travelling to Bagua Grande, Peru to work on the initial stages of a sustainable development project. My team and I will organize this project by working with the local government bodies and community leaders; all projects will be implemented and approved by the local government who will continue to grow these efforts in the years to come. SID currently works in Kenya and Peru, and focuses on several sectors to reduce poverty, such as health, gender, education, agriculture, and entrepreneurship.
I am trying to raise $1,000 to cover personal fees, such as program fees, flight, and vaccinations. And $1,000 to go directly towards sustainable development projects in Peru.
Thank you so much for supporting myself, young people, SID, and Peru!
