Student requiring financial assistance

Hi everyone,

My name is Lodewyk Vogel, an aspiring global health and psychology researcher. I recently completed my honours degree in Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch. The experience changed my perspective on many aspects of our psyche and specifically the South African mental health space. As our country is in dire need of upliftment at both an individual and community-level, I feel responsible for pursuing research that will aid in providing South Africans with a better quality of life.

I have been privileged enough to be accepted into the MA(Psychology) programme to pursue my ambition of qualifying as a Research Psychologist. This will allow me to drive research in areas beneficial to South Africans and other global citizens. Specifically, my interest lies in health psychology. For this reason, my Masters thesis will focus on investigating two measures used amongst female breast cancer patients at a public hospital in the Western Cape. These measures were utilised to determine the coping strategies they employ to deal with breast cancer and to determine the health-related quality of life they experience after treatment. Other research projects that I am involved in at the moment are focused on psychosocial interventions to address HIV amongst adolescents; PTSD amongst South Africans and psychosocial aspects surrounding infertility amongst couples in developing countries.

In order for me to continue contributing these projects, I am in need of financial assistance to fund my Masters degree. Any amount in helping me to contribute to projects that will uplift our country, will be greatly appreciated.
