Accommodation and Admin Fees for Higher Degree Studies.
I am a British national seeking urgent support for my Higher Degree (Masters) studies in Germany. I have already a B.Sc Honours degree and am now enrolled for an M.A. at the Freie Universitat, Berlin.
My dorm accommodation ends in August and before then I will be offered a new dorm, but I do not have the money to pay for the deposit and first month rent during the overlap of the two dorms. I cannot get my first deposit back until later.
If I turn down an offer the student agency that provides the dorms will remove me from the application and make no other offer. I cannot afford private accommodation which is very expensive in Berlin and hard to find. If I cannot stay in a dorm I will have to give up my studies and return to the UK. I cannot take regular employment in Germany because I do not have the compulsory German health insurance, which is expensive. I survive so far on personal savings and informal work, such as thesis editing.
The deposit and first month rent on a dorm offer will be between 750-1000 Euros, depending on the dorm offered.
There are no tuition fees at my university, Freie Universitat Berlin, but there is a twice yearly admin fee of 300 Euros every six months. I also do not have the money for the next of those, due in June.
total, I am urgently seeking around 1000-1300 Euros. I have worked
hard to get the course and the accommodation, which has taken two
years waiting. It would be a great pity to have to give it up for
lack of such a sum of money. It may not seem much, but I do not have it.
I pay by transfer and card from my UK bank, so my budgeting is in British Pounds but payments to my Pay Pal account in other currencies will be converted before I transfer them to my bank. The figures for my necessary payments are in Euros. When I pay the fees they are converted again from GB Pounds to Euros.
have set a target date for fundraising ahead of my next admin fee,
that allows time for the transition to a new dorm before the present
one ends in August, but I do not actually know when it will be
offered. So this deadline is a "guess-timate"
In the UK I used to be a professional photographer. As a reward I offer my services as a photographer in Berlin. Anyone donating 50 Euros or more is entitled to request (at your option) photographic images of either selected sites as you choose, or general selections of images. My photography of Berlin is as good as any and better than most, by far. I will, of course, extend copyright permission for your use of these images, for commercial purposes, if you wish.
