Hello! My name is Ashley Day, and I'm requesting help to pay off my student loans. I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Radford University in 2014, and graduated with my Master's degree in Clinical Social Work at George Mason University in 2015 (I was able to complete my Master's in just one year under an advanced standing degree program). I started out with $80,000 in student loans, and have now paid off half on my own in just 3 years. I have $35,000 remaining on my loans, and would like some assistance paying off the remaining balance.

Here's a little information about me: I'm 28 years old and currently live in Northern Virginia, about one hour outside of Washington, DC. I'm living with my parents because this area has an astronomical cost of living (minimum $1400 for a studio apartment) and I can't afford that right now. I'm attempting to save money for a down payment on a home, however with my student loans and monthly car payment, it's nearly impossible. I commute 35 miles (70 miles) to work each day in Fairfax, Virginia (with traffic that's roughly an hour each way, if not more some days!) to my job at a non-profit hospital as a Psychiatric Emergency Clinician. I complete mental health evaluations for patients who come to the emergency room with mental health concerns. I provide resources and appointments for the patient, and find placement for them if inpatient hospitalization is needed. I have a very rewarding job and love helping others. My goal is to complete my 3000 supervision hours to become a LicensedClinical Social Worker so that I can open my own mental health or therapy practice and serve individuals lacking insurance or financial means to obtain services.

More stuff about me: I'm a huge Washington Capitals hockey fan! I go to practices and games every chance I get (money is definitely a factor in how many games I go to, usually just 2 or 3 per year). I was even able to get my picture with the Stanley Cup last year following their championship win! I enjoy making my own jewelry and selling it at craft fairs. I make bracelets, necklaces, and earrings (I'll post a link to my Etsy store a little later!) and if you donate $100 or more I will mail out a handmade bracelet as a thank you! I have two pet birds (cockatiels), Elvis is 19 years old and Oatmeal is 2 years old and I hope to someday adopt a Cockatoo!

Last thing guys!!: I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at the age of 26 and have significant chronic pain because of the condition. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and am often exhausted easily. I take weekly injections to lessen the joint damage caused by the disease, however this is going to be a lifelong battle, as there is no cure for RA. I really want to be an advocate for RA awareness, and show others what someone with RA is able to accomplish!

Any help is appreciated! Thanks everyone! :)
