Our Goal: to create a Student Leader in Geriatrics Scholarship. The National Student Association for Geriatrics would like to present an annual $500 scholarship to our "Student Leader in Geriatrics" at our annual meeting in May. The Awardee of the Student Leader in Geriatrics will be a student member of the National Student Association for Geriatrics and will have the qualities of a strong national leader along with a strong desire to increase awareness of healthcare issues for older people.   Get involved: Support our Strong Student Leaders in Geriatrics. Now is the time to support our strong student leaders in geriatrics so that we have enough geriatricians to support our growing population of older people. Currently, we are at a critical shortage of professionals supporting the healthcare of our older people. Professionals that are trained in geriatrics yields "improvements in outcomes, such as better physical, functional, and psychosocial status without an increase in cost." If we support our students interested in geriatrics before they choose a subspecialty, there is an increased chance that these students will join the field of geriatrics.     About: The National Student Association for Geriatrics (NSAG). The National Student Association for Geriatrics (NSAG) is a national organization completely student run by future professionals that support the healthcare of our older population. Regardless of the specialty students plan to pursue, all students must become equipped to meet the special needs of our older population. Thus, NSAG is the bridge that will connect your studies to hands on experience with the older population. As the field of geriatrics is truly an interdisciplinary team, NSAG welcomes students of all disciplines including but not limited to: physician, physician assistant, pharmacist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, nurse, medical assistant, respiratory therapist, social worker, dietician, radiation therapist, psychologist, law , and any other student. If we are missing your field let us know and we will add it to our growing list. Would you like to be a member or mentor?
