Student Fees for Flight School Needed

Greetings Everyone

My name is Kieran Smith. I am student of Durban Aviation Center and I also work there part time as a administrative assistant . I began my journey with Durban Aviation Center in February 2014.

My Fundraising Campaign is to raise funds for my school fees . I have completed my private pilots license (my mum and dad when they retired , used their pension money to pay for it as well as loans that i have taken from banks ) but still require funds to complete my Night Rating , Hour building , Simulator Training and Multi Engine Training which will cost in the range of R350 000 - R400 000. My training has since stopped due to a lack of finance. I have applied for many bursaries and scholarships but unfortunately I have not been successful with my applications.

I come from a community where poverty, violence, unemployment and drug/alcohol abuse is rife. I wanted and want to be the exception amongst my peers and be more than just another statistic in my community of being a young man who is unemployed, uneducated and disillusioned about the future.

My love for Aviation was sparked at an early age in my life. For hours, I would look at the sky and enjoy watching the planes fly by and saying to myself that one day I will be the pilot of one of those amazing aircraft's. I would spend a countless amount of time reading the latest aviation magazines at the library and attending as many air shows as I possibly could even if I had to stand outside the venue as I had no money to enter. The show is just as good as it is outside because all I needed to do was look up and there were all these beautiful planes racing at the speed of sound that made my adrenaline rise.

I am passionate, committed and dedicated to seeing my dream become a reality. I am not afraid of hard work and putting in the long hours to ensure that I become the best at my chosen career.

A vision without any action is just a dream. I want to stop dreaming now and put into action what I envisioned for my future and I am praying that my fundraising campaign is successful to assist me with getting there.
