As the student population increases, demand also arises for student accommodation which so far is experiencing a critical shortage. Universities in South Africa are faced with an ever ending increasing problem as their students struggle to find suitable accommodation and many institutions have now reached student accommodation crisis level.

Lack of accommodation at our universities is no one's fault. it has arisen because of a massive belief that the tertiary education is the key to a better future. the department of higher education and training is doing their level best under extremely difficult circumstances, but they simply do not have the resources to meet the demand.

what happens when a young student arrives at university and she spends all her energy just on surviving? she fails and with her failure, not only are her dreams shattered but the dreams of her family and even those of her community. the psychological impact of overcoming every hurdle to reach university and then failing through no fault of her own is devastating.

In a statement, UCT says it only has around 6,000 beds to accommodate 27,000 students.Students have erected a shack on the university's main campus at the foot of the iconic Jammie steps to draw attention to what it calls a housing crisis.

We would like to help built new homes for our fellow students but we cant do it all alone. We urge for your help. We would kindly accept and appreciate anything that would be of help. It takes a village to raise a child. two hands are better than one, we believe.

thank you
