My name is Renée, I have been traveling on a very limited budget around the world for many months. This trip has been my dream since a long long time and traveling this way, as a backpacker, hitchhiking, living with locals, has been such a remarkable experience despite the financial struggle of traveling on a low budget because it's not an easy task. But due to the recent ongoing events I got stuck in Inda where the situation has become very dangerous. The government has imposed an anti tourist campaign as they consider us the cause of the coronavirus outbreak. A few days ago, a random indian I asked Information from at the airport, sprayed some 90° alcool in my face just because I was a white tourist, and an Italian girl I met got hit by a stone casted from a taxi driver while she was walking on the street. Hotels don't accept any foreigner anymore and last week my hotel kicked me out very badly. The police didn't assist me neither but they have been very rude and mean instead. I had to sleep 2 nights on the street in Kolkata, with the risk of getting robbed or raped and I spent another night in the airport before they kicked me out even from there, because it was closing due to the sudden lockdown this country is undergoing. The only help I got from my embassy has been to send me to a hotel which is one of the most expensive in town (but at least they wanted to accept me as a guest and I'm no longer on the street) and I am now stuck here since week. There was an evacuation flight back home organised 4 days ago but the price was ridiculously and crazily high and I couldn't afford it. Since this flight has left I have no news from my embassy, they don't answer the phone nor the emails.

So I am stuck in this unaffordable hotel, everything outside is closed as India is under complete lockdown. If I need food the only option is the very expensive room service. I m waiting for a flight back home which will probably be too expensive for me because the airlines are clearly taking advantage of the situation. I don't even know when that flight will be, considering that the curfew is for 21 days though there are news that it might last longer. I would like to leave before the situation here escalates; India has not done a lot of tests and chances are cases might be more. I don't feel safe here as this country is known for its terrible hygienic conditions. Every day spent here is a big risk I m taking.

Je m'appelle Renée, je voyage avec un budget très limité à travers le monde depuis plusieurs mois. Ce voyage est mon rêve depuis très longtemps et voyager de cette façon, en tant que routard, faisant de l'auto-stop, vivant et partageant avec les locaux, a été une expérience si remarquable malgré la difficulté financière de voyager avec un petit budget car ce n'est pas une tâche facile. Mais en raison des récents événements en cours, je suis restés coincé en Inda où la situation est devenue très dangereuse.

Le gouvernement a imposé une campagne anti-touristes car ils nous considèrent comme la cause de lla pandémie de coronavirus. Il y a quelques jours, un Indien lambda auquel j'ai demandé des informations m'a vaporisé de l'alcool à 90 ° juste parce que j'étais blanche; une fille italienne que j'ai rencontrée a été frappée par une pierre lancée par un chauffeur de taxi alors qu'elle marchait la rue. Les hôtels n'acceptent plus d'étrangers et la semaine dernière, mon hôtel m'a expulsée de la pire des façons. La police ne m'a pas aidée non plus, mais au contraire ils ont été très impolis et méchants. J'ai dû dormir 2 nuits dans la rue à Calcutta, avec le risque de me faire tout voler, ou violer, où les deux; la 3e nuit j'ai dormi à l'aéroport avant de me faire expulser même de là-bas. La seule aide de la part de mon ambassade a été de m'envoyer dans un hôtel qui est l'un des plus chers de la ville (mais qui au moins a voulu de moi et je ne suis plus à la rue) et je suis coincée ici depuis une semaine. Il y avait un vol de retour organisé il y a 4 jours mais le prix était ridiculement élevé et je n'ai pas pu me le permettre. Depuis, je n'ai pas de nouvelles de mon ambassade, ils ne répondent ni au téléphone ni aux mails.

Je suis donc coincée et confinée dans cet hôtel trop cher pour moi et tout à l'extérieur est fermé car l'Inde est sous verrouillage complet. Si je veux manger le seul recours est le room service qui est hors de prix. J'attends un vol de retour qui sera probablement trop cher pour moi car les compagnies aériennes sont carrément en train de profiter de la situation. En outre, je ne sais même pas quand ce vol arrivera, étant donné que le couvre-feu est de 21 jours, pour l'instant, mais il pourrait durer plus longtemps. Je voudrais partir avant que la situation ne dégénère ici car l'Inde n'a pas fait beaucoup de tests et il y a de fortes chances que les cas soient plus nombreux de ce qui vont être officialisés. L Inde est réputée pour les affreuses conditions d'hygiène et croyez-moi, ce n'est pas une légende métropolitaine. Chaque jour passé ici c'est un grand risque que je prends.

Ciao a tutti! Sono Renée e sto viaggiando per il mondo con un budget molto limitato da molti mesi. Questo viaggio è stato il mio sogno da sempre e viaggiare in questo modo, zaino in spalla, facendo l'autostop, vivere con e dalla gente del posto, è un'esperienza straordinaria nonostante viaggiare con un budget così ridotto non sia cosa facile. Ma a causa dei recenti eventi in corso sono rimasta bloccata in Inda dove la situazione è diventata molto pericolosa.

Il governo ha imposto una campagna anti turista poiché ci considerano la causa della pandemia di coronavirus. Qualche giorno fa, un indiano a cui ho chiesto informazioni mi ha spruzzato dell'alcool a 90 ° in faccia solo perché ero bianca, e una ragazza italiana che ho incontrato è stata colpita da un sasso lanciato da un tassista mentre camminava per la strada. Gli hotel non accettano più nessuno straniero e la scorsa settimana il mio hotel mi ha cacciato malamente. La polizia non mi ha assistito, inoltre sono stati molto scortesi e meschini. Da quando questo volo è partito non ho più notizie dalla mia ambasciata, non rispondono al telefono né alle e-mail.

Quindi sono bloccata, in questo hotel super costoso; fuori è tutto chiuso perché l'India è completamente bloccata e paralizzata. Se voglio mangiare, l'unica opzione è un room service dal prezzo proibitivo. Sto aspettando un volo di ritorno a casa ma probabilmente sarà di nuovo troppo costoso; ovviamente le compagnie aeree speculano sulla drammatica situazione attuale. Che schifo. Tra l'altro nessuno sa quando ci sarà questo volo, considerando che il coprifuoco qui dura 21 giorni, anche se da notizie quasi sicure sarà prolungato. Vorrei andarmene prima che la situazione qui degeneri perché l'India non ha fatto molti test e con ogni probabilità i casi sono superiori a quelli ufficiali. Le condizioni igieniche dell'India non sono una leggenda metropolitana. È il peggior paese in cui restare bloccati. Ogni giorno qui è un rischio in più di esser contagiata. A breve qui sarà un'ecatombe.
