THE REASON: I am in India and I am short of money, but have an upcoming job teaching in Vietnam.  There's a bit of back story to my extraordinary tale that got me here and in a situation to beeseech your help and sponsorship.

BACKSTORY: I am a Southern California guy who started teaching English abroad with the economic contraction, after I got my masters degree in 2010.  I have been teaching in the Middle Eastern Gulf countries such as Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman for the last few years.

I tried making it back in the States this past year, but could not get any tenure track teaching jobs and resorted to teaching part time at several language schools.  Needless to say, this did not pay enough to support me in So Cal.

So, in February I took a job in Saudi Arabia through a recruiter.  Nothing turned out to be as promised or in the contract, but the pay that reliably came more than a week late each month.  My bosses were also unqualified double talkers with American complexes in several degrees.

THE UNEXPECTED: The brightest spot of the job was teaching some dedicated students who notably wanted change in their culture and country, but were likely unable to affect such a change.

The darkest point of the job was what I had initially thought was the best, walking on the beach in the early morning.  Unfortunately, shortly after a month in Saudi I was physcially threatened by one indiviual one morning and then a car full the next.  Not long after that I recived a new teaching assignment with a class that other teachers had failed with and several students said 'I want to kill people.'  I then waited until the upcoming payday came, received some undeserved deductions from my employer and decided to cross the border to semi freedom in Bahrain.

One month of Saudi pay should have been enough to make it in India for three months, while I awaited for the next job to manifest.  However, I was delayed in Bahrain 11 days getting the Indian visa.  In the meantime, hotel costs, overpriced cheap restaurants and getting ripped by a money changer deeply dented my future budget.

The Indian visa finally came through and I made the choice to continue on to India instead of spending most of what I had left to fly home to the States and have almost nothing there.    I already had a 10 day meditation retreat booked and my best university buddy has been living here on and off for a couple years.

I had faith and beleived in the future and healing power of a country like India.  I am blessed to have been here, but I need to move on to a job or face the prospect of running out of funding here.

THE NEED: The money I ask for will pay for a hotel and transportation in India, cover the flight from India to Vietnam, pay for domestic transportation in Vietnam, provide for the intial housing (hotel) needs there, and allow me to make a student loan payment back in the States.
