To all the beautiful people, frequenters of A Streetbar Named Desire,

You've been with us from the beginning. You've popped in for a drink, you've booked a table, you've drooled over our incredible menu, you've been wowed by our staff, you've felt like part of our family, you've taken selfies in our bathrooms, you've jammed to the dirty beats of our incredible dj's, you've watched the sun set from our balcony and listened to the street sounds of our vibrant city, you've had deep & meaningfuls, you've been inspired by our artwork & our quirky menu, and most of all you've felt at home in a place where you can be your authentic self.

And all of that has been possible because of you, and the fantastic hard work, creativity, imagination, love and brotherhood of our team. That amazing Iraqi chicken breast (that is truly the best chicken you've ever had in your life) has been made in the kitchen by our incredibly talented chefs, carried from the pass to your table by the raddest waiter you've ever met, cleared away by the super efficient runners who keep your tables free of clutter - more space to enjoy the cocktails you've just ordered that have been mixed by our interesting and multifaceted bartenders, whilst our barbacks cheerfully clean glasses and mop the floor where some other reveller just dropped their drink. Our Streetbar circle of life.

That life as we know it has been brutally and quickly devastated by the Corona-virus pandemic.

And so we call on you, on the "kindness of strangers", to help our people out. Our waiters, bartenders, kitchen & cleaning staff. They've always worked hard for you, and they'll continue to do so as soon as we're able to open our doors again. And believe me, we're itching to open our doors again!

If any one of our incredible team members has ever made a difference in your life, chatted about politics and life stories and indulged in general witty repartee, we would like to encourage you to make a donation to our Streetbar Support Fund. However big or small, any generosity will be uberly appreciated! All monies donated will go towards our much loved team, to aid them in some way as they weather the 4 months that we will be closed for. We wouldn’t be asking if we had any other way. Every rand will make a difference.

We can't wait to reopen, set our tables, put fresh flowers in vases, prep our cocktail garnishes, polish the glasses, and welcome you back with the biggest smiles you've ever seen. We won't forget your generosity in this time of need. Merci beautiful people, merci!
