US$350.00raised of $350.00 goal goal
Campaign Story
Background:
Belhar is a township in the City of Cape Town facing a high level of street kids, unemployment, crime, teenage pregnancies, HIV/AIDS, drugs and substance abuse. In addressing some of these issues, African Community Projects, a non-profit organisation, runs a kindergarten under ACP Day Care among its other programs.
ACP Day Care provides children aged 2 - 6 with free and subsidised play group and early childhood education services, which
prepares them for primary schooling and reduces the growing number of street children. Currently, there are 100 kids in pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classes from low socio-economic background attending the classes.
Funding Required: To purchase a gas/electric stove to help prepare meals for kids.
Equipment: A 6-8 burner gas/electric stove purchased locally
Funding amount requested: AUD $1200
(current exchange rate: AUD 1 = South African Rand 8).
Project viability: The funding addresses the immediate and future needs of a professionally run day care centre; in particular in preparing and providing balanced diet to growing children. Equipment is purchased locally to maintain low cost and for product warranty purpose. The funding coordinator will ensure the equipment is purchased for the stated purpose; maintain relevant account keeping and publish photos and videos on this website.
