Support ATHOL WILLIAMS in his campaign to stop state capture in South Africa.

Athol is an ethics advocate and scholar well know for his unwavering commitment to the betterment of South Africa. He has led numerous social upliftment initiatives over the last 10 years but is now facing an enormous challenge that matters to all South Africans and people around the world who care about democracy.

Athol has made enormous personal sacrifices to take a bold and brave stand to expose the web of actors involved in state capture. His widely publicised evidence and testimony to the State Capture (Zondo) Commission provided valuable information to authorities who are now pursuing prosecutions. His campaign, along with Lord Hain in the UK, led to a 3-year ban from government contracts of a key state capture actor.

Athol has been vocal in South Africa and abroad to raise awareness of the devastation and dangers of state capture and the terrible plight of whistleblowers. He has relentlessly named the companies and individuals involved and provided valuable facts to challenge their schemes to dodge accountability.

But his courage has cost him dearly - he's been unemployed for 3 years, faces severe hostility and retaliation, and was forced to leave South Africa over fears for his safety. Yet, he continues to campaign and speak out while many others remain silent. He will not stop until companies and individuals are held fully accountable.

You can support Athol and his courageous work by donating to the Institute of Social & Corporate Ethics (ISCE).

Founded by Athol Williams in 2020, ISCE is a research-based advocacy non-profit organisation working to defend and strengthen South Africa’s democratic institutions. We envision a prosperous South Africa in which ethical principles are embedded in society, government and business. We're focused on eradicating corruption and state capture because we believe their dangers are not limited to the diversion of public resources to private pockets causing harm to millions of lives, but also the systemic undermining of South Africa's democracy.

ISCE's work to eradicate corruption and state capture focuses on:

  • Campaigning in South Africa and internationally for accountability for companies, particularly multinational corporations, involved in corruption or state capture
  • Cooperating with law enforcement authorities and government agencies in South Africa and elsewhere to prosecute parties involved in corruption or state capture
  • Campaigning for support and protection of state capture whistleblowers
  • Advocating for an ethical revolution through public engagement, publications and education

Athol is playing his part to defend South Africa from the onslaught of state capture. Not everyone is able or willing to do what he's doing, but we all can support him in this long-term battle that has stripped him of everything but will bring benefits to the people of South Africa for many generation. Thank you to those who contributed to my anti-corruption fund. We raised 2% of the target. This is a resounding vote of no-confidence and severely limits what I can do since I face parties with huge budgets, but I will honour those who gave by squeezing as much out of
