Stop Medical Mandates For State Employees

On August 20, 2021, Governor Lamont issued an executive order mandating all state employees to be vaccinated by September 27, 2021. There are options for not getting vaccinated, either by a religious, medical exemption, or weekly testing. The current health insurance plan for state employees does not pay for asymptomatic COVID-19 testing so those who opt for the testing route would be required to pay out of pocket as the system stands today.

The current vaccines for Covid-19 are authorized for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) only and are currently not approved vaccines. EAU vaccines are considered experimental in nature, and these mandates violate the Nuremberg Code (1947) which states the following:

• voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential
• be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of force, fraud, deceit, duress, overreaching, or other ulterior form of constraint or coercion; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision.

This vaccine mandate issued by Governor Lamont's excitive order is a prime example of government overreach over the great people of the state of Connecticut. Governor Lamont's executive powers should be removed to avoid more overreach in the future. All state employees should be allowed to have a choice and not be forced into getting an unapproved experimental vaccine.
