I have always been blessed... I have had the opportunity in my lifetime to grow up without ever having to wonder what, if anything, I would eat on any given day. I went to school and received a wonderful education, starting every school year with a new outfit and plenty of school supplies. I have been given so much. And because of that, I have always felt God calling me to share what I have been given. In college I went on a mission trip... and then another one... and another one and another one. I felt my heart break as I served and lived with individuals from all over the world - in the US and abroad - and saw their daily struggles. These experiences gave me a reason to speak up - to try and be an advocate for those whose sufferings we only see in passing as we flip channels on the TV. After taking a job in a suburb of Buffalo, New York, a little over four years ago, I wondered if I would ever get the chance to serve on another mission trip again. It turns out, though, that the teens here also have that missionary heart in them; and so, after years of asking, we are finally preparing to embark on our FIRST mission trip, which will take place over February break 2015!
About Our Trip
So, that brings us to this page and why I am asking you to a) consider praying for me (and all of us attending this trip) and b) consider financially supporting me in whatever way possible. Each person attending is asked to fundraise $1,500 to pay for our trip. This includes airfare (which isn't cheap!) and the cost of our stay and transportation when we arrive in St. Lucia. We will be working with Catholic Heart WorkCamp (find out more at www.heartworkcamp.com) to serve the people of St. Lucia, alongside several local nuns, in a variety of ways - in a school for disabled children, in a home for the elderly, and with the local residents of the area. Your support and prayers will make this trip possible... and in return you will be in our thoughts and our prayers each day as we celebrate Mass and spend time in group prayer!
