Campaign Story
The organization name Step Up Uganda (formerly and a now sister org. to Ssejinja Children's Foundation) implies community driven and project ownership. All projects are inspired and run by community members, in particular local women and youth volunteers, with the intention to create opportunity through education the vulnerable and lost children of their Katosi village. Out mantra is charity is wonderful but opportunity is better.
I will be going to Uganda this summer to develop detailed management plans and training programs for local villagers.
The funds we are raising will be the foundation to create financial self-reliance for John Bosco school for orphans through growth and development of support businesses and community mobilization: Chicken Farm and Sewing school for vulnerable girls. Both are two-fold bringing vocational trade to youth and vulnerable girls who cannot afford further education as well as providing financial support for the school for orphans.
The vocational training of the above businesses and the John Bosco school provide, safety, food and education all lending to break the devastating cycle of poverty, abuse, disease and hunger. Thus allowing the students to dare to hope and realize security in their future.
With your help setting this foundation we can bring opportunity for these strong and intelligent children to stand on their own and "pay-it-forward" instead of receiving immobilizing and disabling hand-outs.
I will take money received with me to Uganda this summer and work hand in hand to establish and implement these programs.
Thank you so much for help!. I have one month to complete this goal and look forward to yor generous assistance.
Sincerely, Kathy
