Step Up for THE VAULT in Kofu’s fight against Covid.

An institution of Kofu’s ex-pat and international community has been befallen by hard times. The Vault has been a staple of Kofu’s downtown for 19 years but a global pandemic that is heading into its third year and numerous lockdowns have taken their toll. After going deep into debt to survive and the banks saying no more owner, Mark Major, has few options left to keep the iconic bar afloat.
I make this appeal on Mark’s behalf having been a regular at The Vault for 15 years. Like so many others, on arrival in Kofu one of my first stops was The Vault. I was introduced into a group who quickly became friends and I also met my wife there.
Birthday parties, wedding parties, graduation parties, World Cup and Halloween parties are all held on a regular basis at The Vault and it was always disappointing to turn up and see the ‘Private Party’ blackboard in front of the door.
The pandemic hit hard and has had a huge effect on our lives. Mark has worked tirelessly to build a business that has and can be enjoyed by all, but without your help he stands to lose everything.
We are making this appeal to anybody who has ever lived in Kofu and visited The Vault. Maybe you met your wife, husband, partner or made new, life long friends there. We ask all, please help us keep this community alive and thriving.
