Stellans for Scholars – Circa ’95 (Paying Forward)

This is the official GoGetFunding of Stellans for Scholars - Rewind, Play, and Pay Forward created by the Batch '95 alumnae of Stella Maris College in Quezon City.

"The Stella Maris College -QC Alumni Association started raising funds for Stellan scholars in 2016. Most of the fund raising projects were done mainly within the members of the Alumni Association. With a generous donation from Batch 1967, we were able to help the first batch of students for the school year 2018 by providing them wih food and transportation allowance. The 20 scholars selected came from families of daily wage earners such as vendors, street sweepers, security guards, and the like. We were also able to help 10 students who were located near the FMM convent in Tagaytay. Furthermore, we provided lunch for the whole school year of 5 students in Stella Maris College who were under the assistance program of the school. For school year 2019, the donation from Batch 1993 was allocated for the recess and lunch meals of 7 Stella Maris College students." ~SMCQCAA

This year we made plans to conduct several fund raising activities that would help us raise the needed amount to support our alma mater's scholars. However, due to COVID-19, all our planned events were cancelled. With so much uncertainty and concern surrounding the pandemic, it is easy to feel helpless—but we believe there is something we can still do to help. Our passion is fueled by our love for these students and the happiness, gratitude and humility they had shown through their letters. We are trying our best to come up with the amount needed as we firmly believe that they deserve to be given the education they need. And there are still so many kids that are deserving to be in schools and not on the streets. We do not want to disappoint them.

So we went back to the drawing board and created programs that we can do online. We have scheduled webinars, sold personalized face masks and knitted hygiene kits. However, the projected money that will be raised from these projects will not be enough to send a lot of kids to school. So we are humbly knocking at your kind hearts to help us by donating. No matter how big or small, it can greatly help to provide for tuition, gadgets, allowances, food, and other school funding projects for our young and talented scholars. Your donation will do so much for the students. This will also benefit, not just our school community, but also the society that our school envisions to shape. Your help will surely make a difference and will be greatly appreciated.

This go get funding campaign is a desperate move as we do not want to disappoint the kids. We firmly believe that they are the hope of the future. Below are the sample messages of our very much deserving students that are being helped by the school.
